Kahlua Girl!
2yo Metropolitan WIN!

Wednesday 12th June - Doomben

What a terrific effort from our 2YO filly by Cool Aza Beel, breaking through for a well-earned metropolitan win at Doomben.

Drawn the outside gate with the rail out, she did all the tough work—rolling forward to sit outside the leader and absorbing the pressure throughout. She was entitled to tire late, but dug deep and showed serious ticker to get the job done.

Full credit to the Shailer Racing — Paul, Hamish & Shel — who have been on a roll of late. Great to see the hard work rewarded with another promising winner.

Michael Rodd delivered an absolute gem from the wide draw, summing it up perfectly and giving her every chance.

Congratulations to all connections — this was a well-deserved result, and there’s every reason to be excited about what’s ahead for this filly.

American Wolf!
Takes His Place In A Group 1!

Wow - what a day!

To have a runner in a Group One is the pinnacle of our sport, and something owners dream of their whole lives! We couldn’t be more grateful and prouder to put some of our owners on the big stage.

Unfortunately, not too much went to plan with the Wolf, with hesitating slightly at the start he took up a position at the tail of the field, and the task was made near impossible as the race tempo upfront was terribly muddling and the back markers were going to be up against it. The Wolf over-raced with the slow tempo and when the sprint finally went on Mark Zahra was forced to scout the widest. To his credit, with all this going against him he was charging to the line late to finish off strongly.

The Wolf didn't get the chocolates, but what we did learn out of the race is he is an out and out stayer and will relish the 3200m Cup's distances around the country. Just 8 starts to his career and we have ticked off a Listed win and contested a Group 1. Keep following the Wolf as he looks to be a serious stayer in the making and be contesting feature staying races for years to come.

American Wolf!
WINS The St Leger!!

Friday 25rd April - ANZAC Day - Flemington

Our boy, American Wolf, surged home to clinch the time-honored Listed VRC St Leger on ANZAC Day—a moment that will resonate with the HCR team for years to come.

The victory not only showcased his class but also secures his spot in the Group 1 South Australian Derby!!

A massive shout-out to Trent & Natalie for having the Wolf trained to the minute they certainly know how to get a Derby winner so let's hope that tally increases next Saturday.

Johnny Allan’s ’s ride was a masterclass in staying tactics—patient, poised, and perfectly timed. He demonstrated why he’s among the nation’s elite jockeys

Not bad for a $100k Karaka purchase… and yes, his full sister is parked in the HCR stable, waiting for her turn to jump out in the green and black

Congratulations connections huge thrill to win such a prestigious race and what a day & night of celebrations it was. Our Wolf looks to have a bright future and will no doubt take connections on a journey

John Rambo!
Big Bad Johnny goes bang again!!

Wednesday 23rd April - Doomben

That’s two from two this prep — and he did it in style.

He can be a bit of a character at times, but yesterday he was all business. Showed his class, settled beautifully, and when Martin Harley said go at the 200m — he exploded. Left them chasing shadows!

Huge shout-out to Tony Gollan, the King of Brisbane racing, for getting him spot on again. And hats off to Martin for a 10/10 ride.

Congrats to all the owners and our mates at MrRacing — this boy’s on a roll and we’re loving the ride!

The big chestnut’s back in the winner’s stall!

Wednesday 23rd April - Doomben

Our boy notched up his second win this prep at Doomben, showing there’s still plenty more to come.

The 4YO son of Exceed And Excel is still putting it all together, but the raw talent is undeniable. Big props to Gollan Racing for their patience and care — they’ve got him humming now after a few niggles early on, and it’s starting to show.

Ryan Maloney gave him a peach — one back, peeled out, and bang! Right on the line.

Congrats to all involved — the patience is paying off, and we’re only just getting started with this bloke. Plenty of fun ahead!

San Jose Boy!
Steps Up And Delivers!

Friday 11th April - Gold Coast

Consistency has been the name of the game for SJB in his short career to date, and he proved once again why he's such an exciting young stayer in the making.

Stepping out to 1800m for the first time, SJB didn’t just handle the trip—he thrived on it.

While the pattern of the night favoured those up on speed and hugging the rail, SJB had other ideas. He was strong through the line and showed a real will to win, defying the bias with a powerful finish that brought up win number two for the prep.

Another tick in the win column for the Jack Bruce and High Calibre Racing combo, with a big tip of the cap to young gun jockey Jace McMurray who delivered an ice-cool steer.

Congratulations to all the connections! It’s a very nice time of year to have a 3YO stayer firing. Watch this space...

American Wolf!
The Wolf Hunts Down His Maiden Victory!

Wednesday 2nd April - Ballarat

The Wolf was all heart at Ballarat yesterday, breaking his maiden in gritty fashion. Drawn out in the car park with gate 14, he had to do it at both ends—but his staying power shone through as he toughed it out to the line, outlasting his rivals for a well-earned win.

This fella will stay all day and looks to have a bright future over the longer trips. A huge shout-out to the Busuttin Racing team—this marks our first winner together!

Blake Shinn once again proved why he’s pound-for-pound one of the best jockeys in the country, overcoming the wide draw and giving The Wolf a peach of a ride.

Congratulations to all connections!  You’ve got a seriously promising stayer on your hands… and who knows, maybe a sneaky tilt at the Queensland Derby is on the horizon?

John Rambo!
Goes Back First Up!

Tuesday 1st April -Doomben (postponed Sat metro)

John Rambo Wins in Style!

Big bad Rambo was back in town at Doomben today—and what a return it was! Looming large on the bend with plenty to do, he unleashed his trademark turn of foot, putting the field away in a few powerful strides.

A huge shout-out to the Gollan Racing team for having him cherry ripe for a first-up assault. Martin Harley gave him a peach of a ride, settling him beautifully before unleashing that explosive finish.

Congratulations to all connections and our partners at MrRacing!  Rambo is locked and loaded for a massive campaign ahead.

Who Ordered Dafish!
Appears from fog to WIN by 8.3 Lengths!

Friday 28th March -Toowoomba

We all know Dafish loves it wet, but the conditions at Toowoomba on King of the Mountain day were next level! With relentless rain, wild winds, and near-zero visibility, even the race caller struggled to keep up.

Our boy settled at the rear as they vanished into the mist on the back straight. Then, like a ghost from the fog, he reappeared 200 metres from home—in front! From there, he put his rivals to the sword, storming away for a dominant 8.3-length victory!

To top it off, he clocked the fastest last 600m of the entire meet—quicker than the sprint races and even the elite gallopers in The King of the Mountain!

A masterful ride from CJ Graham, who handled the conditions to perfection. A huge thrill for the owners on track—congratulations to all connections!

Mr Bubbaluski!
Scorches late in the $500K QTIS 3yo Jewel!
Saturday 15th March - Gold Coast

Our cult hero, Mr. 'Bubba' Bubbaluski, delivered a thrilling performance on Saturday night, finishing a gallant second in the $500K 3YO QTIS Jewel at the Gold Coast Turf Club. Under the glow of a full moon, the stage was set—and Bubba didn’t disappoint!

Damian Thornton produced a superb ride, weaving through traffic, taking every narrow gap, and surging along the rail in the final 100m to storm into second place. A heart-stopping finish from a horse who just keeps delivering!

With a record of 6:1:3:1 and $180K in earnings, this $50K purchase has already provided his passionate ownership team with an unforgettable ride. And something tells us Bubba’s best is still to come!

It'sourtime!
HCR Lands Group 3 Winner for the KOTM!

We are thrilled to announce that Victorian Sprinter #Itsourtime will be running in our slot for the 2025 King Of The Mountain Horse Race But that's not all- we've also secured a stake in the talented sprinter, marking an exciting step forward for HCR.

A proven competitor at the highest level, It'sourtime lined up in the Group 1 Newmarket last weekend at Flemington behind the likes of Jolliestar. Earlier in the year he showed his fighting spirit with a gutsy win in the Group 3 Standish Handicap down the straight at Flemington.

We look forward to the next chapter of his racing career here in the Sunshine State. Bring on the King Of The Mountain 2025!

King Of The Mountain Slot Secured!

HCR is thrilled to have secured a coveted slot in this prestigious race. The journey ahead involves the meticulous process of selecting the right horse to represent our slot, a task that combines strategy, expertise, and passion.

A victory in this esteemed race would be a monumental, not just for the recognition and rewards but for the dreams it would fulfill for everyone involved. It’s about the thrill of competition, the pride of ownership, and the possibility of etching our name into QLD racing history.  Bring it on!!

Son of Exceed & Excel Shows His Class!
Wednesday 12th February - Ipswitch

When Tony Gollan and Jimmy Orman team up on one of our horses, good things usually happen – and that was certainly the case with this talented son of Exceed & Excel, who broke through in style at just his second start!

After six months off and drawing the widest gate around the tight Ipswich track, confidence wasn’t high. But he showed blistering gate speed, taking the lead early and kicking strongly on the bend despite mid-race pressure. It was a brilliant training effort from Gollan Racing to have him fit and firing first up, and Jimmy Orman once again proved why he’s the best in Queensland.

A huge shout-out to all the owners who showed patience through a few setbacks along the way. It looks like their patience is about to pay off because this horse has serious potential. Onwards and upwards !

Wednesday 5th February - Ipswitch

Cult hero Dafish notched up another midweek metro win in good fashion at Ipswich Turf Club.

Has performed well in Saturday metro grade of late without luck but the drop back in grade did the trick.

The old master Kevin Kemp had a gear change up his sleeve and it worked a treat. Cody Collis put in another peach of a ride in the HCR silks

Tuesday 4th February - Warwick

After a solid first-up third placing on the Sunshine Coast Poly track, San Jose Boy headed out to Warwick Turf Club Inc to try and scoop up some QTIS Bonus prizemoney and he did just that in fine style.

It was an impressive win. Jumping from a wide gate carrying 60kg, he was caught wide through the middle stages but worked through his gears nicely, circling the entire field to swoop down the outside pulling away.

Shout-out to Jack Bruce Racing & well ridden by Luke Dempsey

The son of Better Than Ready was a $60k '23 Magic Millions GC Yearling purchase and looks to be great buying for connections now

Throwin Shade

PUTS HIS RIVALS TO THE SWORD!
Saturday 1st February - Gold Coast

The Puissance De Lune gelding delivered a powerful performance, breaking through for a dominant maiden victory at just his third start at the Gold Coast Turf Club.

First-up and sitting outside the leader on a hot pace, he showed grit and class, putting the field to the sword at the 200m mark and charging home to win decisively, leaving a strong margin over the chasing pack.

Huge shout-out to the team at Ben Ahrens Racing, despite a few niggling injuries and an interrupted start to his campaign, Ben managed him carefully and mapped out a plan to perfection having him ready to fire first up.

Jace McMurray showed why he is one of the most promising up and coming jockey's coming through the ranks, showed calm and patience to revert back to plan B. First ride in the HCR silks and I'm sure there's plenty more installed

Congratulations to all connections on a brilliant win!

Slippin Jimmy

Wins the Magic Millions Country Cup!
Saturday 11th January - Gold Coast

Slippin’ Jimmy took his meteoric rise through the ranks to the big stage of the Magic Millions Raceday where he showed his rivals a clean set of heels to win the $500,000 Gold Coast Turf Club Magic Millions Country Cup (1200m).

The win takes Jimmy to six wins from 10 career starts and almost $400,000 in prizemoney.

Jockey Tim Clark’s ride was all class, pinging the gates and settling in the lead, he controlled the race in the middle stages before quickening on the rain-affected ground to claim the victory by 0.8 of a length

Hats off to trainer David Vandyke who prepared him brilliantly, and a heartfelt congratulations to all owners who collected the cash and the prestigious trophy!

Its days like these that are what you dream of when you become a racehorse owner, what a day, and what a night of celebrations!

Saturday 7th December Eagle Farm

As natural as the fish is to the sea, WHO ORDERED DAFISH and THESECONDATPORTSEA were inseparable on Saturday, finishing in an official dead heat for third place.

A first for HCR, it was fantastic to see the green and black silks flying home together in a Saturday Metro finish.

Bedford Square

Like a shot out of a gun!
Wednesday (postponed Saturday) 27th November- Doomben

Our mighty Tavistock mare notched up another Saturday metro win for connections in what was a sizzling last 400m!

She is a mare in form running 3rd, 2nd & 1st respectively in her last three starts and it was a well deserved win. An outstanding ride from Emily Lang and showed patience to settle her where she was comfortable, that allowed Bedford to show her brilliant turn of foot and boy did she scorch home!

Bedford Square will take her shot at some stakes races over the Summer Carnival and we have no doubt she will account for herself well.

Congratulations to our partners and connections

Wins on debut for HCR!
Saturday 26th October- Doomben

He had to do it the hard way after missing the start and a track bias heavily against him but his turn of foot was ultra impressive as he scorched home in very impressive time.

Credit to Cody Collis who rode our boy in his QLD debut for HCR, he kept his cool from a hopeless position on the bend to weave a passage through and kick clear by a length in the final 50m.

Get to the lead, kick on the turn and make them catch you was the instruction to hoop Emily Lang and that's exactly what she did.  A great ride on a super quick surface saw our boy winning on a firm, fast surface for the first time.  It was an impressive display that saw our boy notch up his 2nd Saturday Metro win in his first QLD preparation!
Great to see so many owners on track enjoying the experience, congratulations to all!

Perfect timing!!
Wednesday 21th August - Warwick Farm

The Irish import goes bang and notches up win number two for the preparation.
He was ridden outside his comfort zone last start; the key is to ride him quiet and save him up for one big run.
Great to see everyone's patience being rewarded with success now coming on the track.

Daytona

Impressive turn of foot!!
Saturday 17th August - Doomben

Daytona notched up his second win of the preparation beating a classy field at Doomben. As expected he had to do it the hard way coming from the tail of the field. Ryan Maloney knew what he had under the bonnet and sat patiently before pulling Daytona out wide to run over the top of a classy field. His had the flashing red lights on in his last few starts with some bad luck in the run but his class shined through today in what was a well deserved win.

The Big BUBBA started favorite but did it the hard way! After missing the jump our boy was posted 3 wide and turned with all the chasing to do 3 lengths off the leaders.  With his first ride in the HCR silks, Jock Michael Hellyer asked Mr Bubbaluski for an effort at the 200m and didn't he respond, checking himself out on the big screen as he flew by to take the win. Massive congratulations to the ownership group who were duly rewarded after waited patiently for their HCR yearling purchase to hit the track

Saturday 22nd June - Ipswitch

Angela Jones showed why she is one of the best front running jockeys in the game controlling the race to perfection.  Hats off to Jack Bruce who had our boy primed for his first up run after 6 months off the scene.
It was a great thrill to win on Ipswich Cup day and what a day it was, we had over 30 owners on course and the roar certainly went up at the 100m. There were plenty of hugging and high fives and thats what racehorse ownership is all about. Was great to see.

Betterletmedance

Tough win in a photo!!
Wednesday 22nd May - Ipswitch

QLD's best hoop Jimmy Orman showed his class once again by putting her in the race from the outset despite the wide barrier.  It was a ding dong battle in the straight where she fought on strongly to deny her rival in a photo!  $142K returned in prize money for her ownership group from 11 starts and many more victories to come!

Jimmy SC 19 05.jpg

Slippin' Jimmy

Dominant Display on the Coast!!
Sunday 19th May - Sunshine Coast

Jumping from the inside gate, Jimmy made the most of a good draw to push forward to lead from the outset.  He controlled the race despite the hot tempo and gave them the slip on the turn to push 4 lengths in front!  Finishing 2 lengths clear of second and 4.3 lengths clear of third, Jimmy never looked like loosing and gave his owners their 3rd win from 6 starts.

Viadelamore

Determined Win!!
Saturday  18th May - Aquis Park -Gold Cost

Our boy jumped away well and got into a nice spot early where he got into a lovely rhythm on the fence through the early and middle stages of the race. They quickened prior to the home bend and his wheels spun for a few strides before he picked up the bridle in attempt to work through his gears.

Rounding the home turn Jag was able to steer him through a gap one off the fence where he kept building on his run to get his head in front right on the line. It was a good job to come out the right side of the photo given the second horse was carrying 3kgs less than him and I'm sure if the race went any further he would have kept his head in front.

Daytona Ipswich.jpg

Daytona

Goes Two to Their One!!
Wednesday  15th May - Ipswitch

From an awkward gate our boy jumped nicely and took his medicine, setting at the rear of the field in the initial stages. Ridden with patients, Ryan Maloney waited until the 500m before making his move, coming from 3rd last on the bend and swinging 7 wide his race looked done and dusted.  That was until he hit the afterburners and flew home over the last furlong to get over the field in a photo!  Seriously impressive finish worth taking another look at!

SJ Kilcoy.jpg

Slippin Jimmy

Gets The Job Done!!
Friday 3rd May - Kilcoy

An impressive turn of foot in the short straight at Kilcoy saw Slippin' Jimmy make amends in his latest start, bringing home the chocolates for connections for the second time in 5 starts.  He was a asked a question on the bend sitting 2-3 lengths off the leader but answered it in no uncertain terms finishing off a patient ride from hoop Ryan Wiggans with a classy finish.

Tuesday April 9th - Grafton Turf Club

Intentional Lass started a hot favourite from barrier 1 and a drop back from city grade following a brave effort at Eagle Farm last start.  The hearts of connections were in their mouths on the turn with plenty of work still to do but she showed her big heart and staying ability to fight it out all the way to the line for the victory.  Has been the pillar of consistency but racing without luck - will go onto bigger and better things now as she steps up in distance.
